Sauna Versus Steam Room

March 24, 2016

Category: Sauna & Steam

If you are looking for a new form of relaxation, you may be considering either purchasing a sauna or steam room. They both have some great benefits and it is going to come down to the purpose that you want to use the sauna or steam room for. Both of these have the ability to produce a high level of heat, which enhances your health. Let’s take a look at the difference between a sauna and a steam room.

Saunas

Saunas are able to reach a temperature of about 160& even infrared saunas are available. In general, most people will utilize a sauna session from anywhere between five to 20 minutes. They will make sure that they drink plenty of fluids, such as water before utilizing the sauna because of the high dry heat.

Steam rooms

The main difference between a sauna and steam room is that the steam room has moist heat. It produces many of the same benefits and usually comes down to a person’s personal preference regarding whether they like dry or moist heat. The temperature reached in the steam room is around 120 degrees.

There are a few factors that may help you choose between the two units if you are undecided. If you suffer from rheumatoid arthritis, you may find that the sauna brings the most benefits. This is based on the dry heat.

If you are suffering with skin conditions, such as acne, you may find that the steam room is really beneficial for helping to cleanse your pores and reduce acne breakouts. Generally speaking, a steam room is ideal for cleansing the skin. For those that suffer with chronic congestion, you’ll find that the moisture in the steam room really helps to loosen up the congestion and allows the sinuses to drain easier.

Considering all of these factors, it then comes down to what your personal preference is and which you feel you and your family will enjoy more.
